Habits of HAPPY people

Habits of HAPPY people

This morning I woke up super excited about this list of habits of HAPPY people. My cousin’s boss (who is successful and has a thriving business), had this on his computer. (My words are added in parenthesis).

  1. They wake up early (I woke up at 5am today, Yes!!!)

  2. They practice gratitude (I try, but I know that I can complain when I am stressed out)

  3. They smile (we can all do this one)

  4. They turn mistakes into lessons (this sounds good, but could be hard for the perfectionist)

  5. They don’t compare themselves to others (can I add, others in social media too!)

  6. They take chances (so they are open minded, ok, let’s try it)

  7. They’re honest (I like this one for sure!)

  8. They do the things they love (oh, yeah, that’s what I am talking about)

  9. They take care of others (this is so sweet, and very rewarding)

  10. They stay positive (in all reality is the best thing to do, because negativity doesn’t accomplish anything…it only leaves you stuck. Now I need to remember this ALWAYS)

I do not know who the author is, but this list reminds me so much to the Proverbs in the Bible. I know not everyone is a Bible believer or reader, but I tell you, the book of Proverbs that is found in the Bible, is full of sayings like this, I would almost say you can find each one of those in there. Business owners, parents, singles, college students, seniors, wives, husbands…..you name it, and there is a practical daily advice for you. Here are some of my favorites:

  • “Be careful what you say and protect your life. A careless talker destroys himself.” Proverbs 13:3

  • “Anyone who loves knowledge wants to be told when he is wrong. It is stupid to hate being corrected.” Proverbs 12:1

  • “No matter has much a lazy person may want something, he will never get it. A hard worker will get everything he wants.” Proverbs 13:4

  • “Homes are made by the wisdom of women, but are destroyed by foolishness.” Proverbs 14:1

  • “Intelligent people want to learn, but stupid people are satisfied with ignorance.” Proverbs 15:14

  • “If you want to be happy, be kind to the poor, it is a sin to despise anyone.” Proverbs 14:21

I actually read a Proverbs daily. The book of Proverbs, has 31 chapters and I read one chapter daily (they are super short, it will take you a whole 3 minutes to read it). So today is Nov. 13, I read Proverbs 13. Each chapter is packed with this little wisdom verses.

Back to the list, I loved it and it is so important to have a clear direction as to how you want to live your life. I love the list idea, because it’s a summery of what the author wanted to live by daily. This can help you (and me for sure), when you are about to go the opposite direction. So when you are afraid, you can remember that you take chances (with in reason, I hope). When you want to be negative and marinate in pity and pessimism, you remember that you are a positive person (so STOP IT!) Lol, I am having too much fun with this post.

What is your list of habits that you live by to be happy?
