All we have is now
New Year is usually a time for new beginnings and resolutions. New diets, goals, dreams, etc… For many it is like a fresh new start. At this point in my life, I am thankful to have the gift of life to begin 2017, as a matter of fact a new day, a new moment. Life is so precious and sometimes we think that we will have tomorrow, next week, month or year. We plan our lives out and have a 5 and 10 year plan, which is great and we should. However it is important that we never forget that in the midst of our planning we also have to learn to live in the moment, because it is all that we have. For me, my new year resolution is to live every moment to the fullest. To live every moment with a purpose and leaving with those around me the love of Christ. I want to love my family, friends, neighbors to the fullest. As I prepare to reach my family's dreams and goals for the future, I also want to prepare daily to live every day, realizing it's a gift from God, with no regrets, loving and ministering to those around me, doing what really matters and not be cought up on the fluffyness of life. This year I want to take time to never waist an apportunity to say a kind word to others, to let them know how much I appreciate them, how much I love them and especially how much God loves them too. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
Dear God, please help us to surrender our plans and goals, we know You lead us and guide us, we know you answer our prayers and give us the desires of our hearts according to your will. Help us to live the fruit of the Spirit daily. Please, help us to understand that in the midst of planning out our lives, we have to live in the moment, and at the end of the day you will direct our path. May we remember that if we do not have the next moment, we do have the promise of eternal life, we know You are coming soon. In Jesus’ name. Amen! “A man’s heart plans his ways, but the Lord directs His steps.” Proverbs 16:9
