Consistent!
I am not big into New Year Resolutions, but I don’t oppose to having achievable, realistic goals and even challenging ones. This year, I want my goals (will share them in another post later) to center on a theme. CONSISTENT! In a world of constant change and all kinds of things that can come up, I desperately need CONSISTENCY. My kids do too.
Often my husband and I have pride ourselves on how flexible we can be, kind of like adventurous people and that’s how we want our kids to be. However, as great as this may sound, if not done correctly it can back fire or hurt us. Yes it’s great to be flexible, but when flexibility disrupts discipline, we have a problem. When adventure, disrupts responsibility and focus, we can be hurting our children’s future performance. So, I want to make sure I don’t fall into the temptation of being unbalance with flexibility and adventure. Margins and boundaries are important and we all constantly need to be reminded of them.
This year in order to stay within the margins in those area that I might be struggling with, I am going to implement consistency.
In order to thrive, as a homeschool mom and working from home, I need to be consistent. I have tried many things and at the end of the day it all comes down to CONSISTENCY! This is my plan for this year:
Simple schedule- realistic one
Stick to the schedule- stay focused
State the schedule- have it on paper in a visible place
Stop disruptions- choose to stop or remove distractions
Share with others- accountability motives me, so sharing what I am working on, it helps
Consistency brings stability…..our current world can use some stability, though I cannot influence the whole world, I can influence my family with consistency.
