I am reading a book about the importance of being present in the life of our children. Also when we are not present the consequences are major.

I am enjoying and learning so much from this book. I know a lot of things are common sense, but it is “Common Sense” that we need to be reminded of.

As I have been thinking a lot about this book, I have noticed the long lasting effects our kids will have when we OVER-show up. When we hover over our kids and not let them learn or do things for themselves, we end up having adult-children who are not able to be adults. I have met children of all ages, so are in their 30’s, 40’s and even 50’s. In all fairness not every adult (child) is this way because of over protective, enabling parents, some adults are children at heart because of trauma or other reasons.

The conclusion of this post is that it is important to show up and truly be present in the life of a child, but it can be as equally important to not over-show up or hover or be helicopter parents….this could stunt their emotional growth.
